Living Threads

About this piece
As humans are living, as all living things are connected by chemistry and physics to form biology, we are built by threads. From sinew and nerves to our strands of DNA, life is a bundle of threads, a concept we are still trying to untangle.
The threads of human life are stitched together
Vessels of strings, sinew, nerves and veins.
In constant motion tugging to and fro,
Bombarded with sensations and pains.
Our bodies are made of threads in functional tangles,
Knots of impulses and chemistry.
Knitted together in designs we are yet to untangle,
So much remains a mystery.
Woven threads and channels,
Chords around and within.
Precision chaos in a breathing case,
A fluttering fabric to existence we pin.
The threads that weave humans together,
Both inside and between,
A spiral with same and different,
Defining the characteristics seen and unseen.
The final thread we wonder about,
The stitch of time that binds.
Wound together from a spool of fleeting moments,
Another layer in the folds of our minds.
