Written piece
A Haiku to Thread

About this piece
This is a Haiku (a Japanese poem), on how each living or non living thing is like a thread and how we are all woven together on this Earth. It also reminds us to never lose a 'thread'.
Sitting at my desk
I find a thread has come loose
Hanging off my shirt
Lost when it’s alone
But united together
Just like each of us
We’re like coloured threads
Red, blue, orange, black or white
When we are woven
Then we are useful
As a kilt, sari or skirt
Always connected
Adding to the Earth
Creating joint memories
Making our future
But sometimes threads fray
This happens because of war
But you can mend cloth
Never lose a thread
Because you can’t re-weave it
Back into cloth
Every being and every plant
Is a thread made from somewhere
Let’s look out for one another
And let us create
The quilt of our humankind
The quilt of our Earth
