Written piece
a grandmother's garden

About this piece
My grandmother's garden is more than a place, it is a living inheritance. Sharing fruits, gathering flowers and passing on memories, her generosity continues to grow beyond her lifetime and outside of my family as well.
This is the garden; humble and grand
brimming with offerings,
full of memory and light.
Green plums hang,
for all to grab.
This is the garden; fleeting yet long.
Gifts of pink hibiscuses
the size of a palm,
hair adornments
to carry thanks.
This is the garden; a grandmother’s garden
that holds one’s hand.
Long gone.
The love endures,
it pours
to one lifetime,
then two,
three,
and with some hope, maybe more.
