About this piece
This is a short prose text. It talks about the life of a girl who does well academically and thus, believe that her educational life is enough to create a nice relationship with her parents. But that was not the case. Life at home was difficult and going to God was also difficult
" The Most Intelligent", yes that's how they called me in school. As a brilliant student, I felt the love of my teachers through their praises. I would move round the campus with full confidence, all smiling. I was proud of myself and my educational life. I knew that I had done that which every parent would expect of their child. I knew with my good behavior at school and good academic results,it was enough to have a perfect relationship with my parents. "Her parents are surely proud of her",my friends would say. Growing up I had concluded that all I needed was that perfect educational life that would please my parents back home.
But life at home was a complete different story. True,my parents were proud of me. Sure they knowledge that I did well in school. But that alone wasn't what they expected from me. There was more to it. As a girl, I was expected to know more concerning house work, especially in the kitchen section. That's one thing which I hed little knowledge of. But I had to make them proud by knowing all that. I would try my best but it was never the best to Mum. She would critisize all my efforts. I would only try over and over again. Most at times she would shout at me, insult or had me beaten. I could only cry my eyes out in my room.
I would cry and ask God whu he couldn't give me the skills I needed for the house. But going to God was one thing that made me feel worst. " You're not worthy to call unto Him", I would tell myself this. In school i comforted myself with my results, at home I would cry in my room, but before God I was just a looser and sinner destined for hell. " You are no child of God. He doesn't recognize you as His own", "even if you begged hundredths of times,he will never look at your direction".My conscience would keep telling me this. I knew that there was no need to look up to God,for he will only look at me with disgust.
Now not only did I disappoint my parents, but even the Almighty was disappointed in me. That was what I thought until he came to me as I friend and proved me wrong
