The Mediterranean Thread

About this piece
A short poem about the Mediterranean as an invisible thread linking three continents. Through salt, wind and light, the sea smooths the past and weaves memory, place and people into a shared fabric.
The sea softens every sharp edge.
It cradles the past
and returns it gilded.
The Mediterranean has done so for centuries.
It kisses every pebble, every stone,
taming what wounds it.
Between three continents
it holds an invisible thread
and plays with it like a child.
It embroiders salty lace along the shores,
stitching memory to place.
It swallows tears,
dances with the wind,
wraps itself in sunlight.
Within it, the infinite swims.
And once you taste it,
you are never the same.
Its invisible thread
has already bound you.
