About this piece
A call for eye and organ donation, framed through Kannappar, the hunter-saint who gave both his eyes to Shiva. It urges readers not to let their sight go to waste after death, imagining a glittering world where one might yet see one's descendants through one's own donated corneas.
Noble Gift
There was a thunder,
called Kannappar,a hunter,
donor of both his eyes
to Lord Shiv-a wonder.
In our surroundings,
so many Kannappas to light
are here to gift us their sight
and to free us from the deep night.
After our life,let's not
let our eyes go to waste.
Anyone will take them
with hopeful taste.
Shake hands,Kannappas the gold!
Let us make a glittering world.
We may have a chance
to view our progeny in the distance
with our own corneal substance.
Not only donation of corneas-
if we wish to donate all after eupnoea,
we all will be a bird,a phoenix.
if not a bird,in a cooker.
