About this piece
Written after the death of the poet's sister. The poem swings between a vivid dream of whiteness, birdsong and golden laughter, and a sudden plunge into darkness, shadows and faithless prayer — before ending on a decision to repaint that darkness white and go on living.
Multicoloured Emotional Rollercoaster
See, I had a dream, whiteness! Splattered with multiple words of peace, birds chirping, squirrels dancing, and the sunshine spreading its rays upon my heart causing my soul to blossom in to golden laughter, golden laughter that escalates all the way to cloud umpteen with stairs made of pink girly candyfloss that cushion my tippy toes as I ascend. Yes! Cloud umpteen. A girl couldn't ask for more
I close my eyes, I open my eyes and now... Darkness! Where is my joy, where is my peace?? Can you hear that? Can you hear that? Souls at the bottom pits of hell sing a melody that shrivels my soul!!! Can you see that? Can you??? Shadows darker than the night come to me.. they whirl and twirl around me, vacuuming me, inside there with me are souls that a bitter and sour..making me utter empty faithless prayers, "Hail Mary, full of grace.. The Lord be with you"... ENOUGH!
Where is my joy? Where is my peace? God, didn't you say I have the power to turn everything to gold with belief? Yes you did!
So, what I'll do is paint this darkness white.. splatter it with multiple words of peace.. sing with the birds, play with the squirrels and just...
Live!
