About this piece
This is a poem on the paradox of peace. Everyone needs peace but peace in itself is a resistance against turbulence. To have peace, we must build a strong defence.
Entering this labyrinth I call life, The only sure way to trace me back is the thread.
And as I move into the uncertain compartments, Thinking I am away from bombardment, The thought of what the future holds, Makes me halt to behold.
Hark the silent voice As I move on again, reeling my thread:
"The peace that exists Is the force that resists the turbulence.
After the shelling is the treaty
The treaty that reinstates the peace.
To long for peace is to worry about defence. Defence is armament and rearmament. Defence is conscription and deployment. Peace, how fantastical thou art?"
