The Patchwork Chronicle.
A ragged scrap of velvet blue,A cotton square of faded hue,From Sunday dresses, worn and thin,Where once a daughter’s laughter twin-Kled in the sun, a gentle grace,Now stitched into a resting place. The needle dives through memory’s lane,Stitching sun and sealing rain. Each thread a whispered, secret tale,Of weathered joy and strength to hail.A frantic pace, a calm design,A patchwork of the life-long line.It guards the secrets, snug and warm,A loving shelter from the storm. The hand that cut, the hand that sewed,Carried a heavy, hopeful load. Now quilt and sleeper, one and all,Wait for the autumn leaves to fall.It is not cloth, but layered time,A silent, woven, textured rhyme. And when the night is cold and deep,It holds the promise of soft sleep.A patchwork quilt, with love embossed,A treasure found, when much was lost.
