About this piece
From Malawi, I bring a thread of healing for marriages. This written piece speaks to couples hiding behind shame and walls. It is an invitation to come out of hiding because the Gardener is still walking, still calling, still covering.
The Thread I Bring
From Malawi, I bring a thread of healing for marriages.
I have watched couples hide behind walls of silence. I have seen pastors bury their pain behind pulpits. I have listened to husbands and wives who sleep in the same bed but have not touched in years.
They have sewn fig leaves of shame. They have forgotten what it feels like to be naked and not ashamed.
But I have heard a Voice walking through the garden calling through the silence:
"Where are you? Come out from behind your fig leaves. Let Me see you. And let Me love what I see."
This is the thread I bring to the Commonwealth.
Not gold. Not silver. But a thread of hope for the hiding. A thread of healing for the broken. A thread that says: the ground where your marriage bleeds is the same ground where seeds become harvest.
I am Louis Kavala from Malawi. This is my thread. This is my offering.
