Issue
To better serve its members, NARS is seeking to improve its internal systems and expand access to information.
How we are helping
We are supporting NARS to upgrade systems, launch a website, improve financial management, and deliver training to strengthen member engagement and advocacy.
About the project
The Foundation’s capacity strengthening grants stream supports smaller Commonwealth civil society organisations in smaller Member States, building their expertise and enhancing their capacity to influence policy.
The Nurses Association of the Republic of Seychelles (NARS) works to empower nurses through professional development and advocacy. To improve organisational capacity, NARS needs to strengthen its management, outreach, and access to information for members. With this grant, NARS will strengthen administrative procedures, develop a new website and improve member outreach and recruitment, especially among underrepresented groups.
The key actions for this project are:
- Internal systems:
- Compiling a manual of internal procedures
- Introducing QuickBooks for financial management
- Training committee members in policy and advocacy
- Communications and outreach:
- Developing a new website
- Improving resourcing of the mobile library
- Capacity building and leadership:
- Launching a recruitment programme focused on male nurses
- Recruiting part-time staff
- Training nurses in advocacy, lobbying and leadership
As a result of the project, it is hoped that NARS will be better equipped to manage its operations and engage members in advocacy efforts. A stronger administrative foundation and improved access to digital resources will support wider participation, enhanced decision-making and strengthened influence in national policy discussions.
