Issue
Raise Your Voice seeks to improve its financial sustainability and institutional capacity to enhance its impact in supporting victims of domestic violence in Saint Lucia.
How we are helping
We are supporting Raise Your Voice to increase transparency, stakeholder engagement and organisational reach by training staff in financial systems and communications techniques.
About the project
The Foundation’s capacity strengthening grants stream supports smaller Commonwealth civil society organisations in smaller Member States, building their expertise and enhancing their capacity to influence policy.
Raise Your Voice is a civil society organisation that provides critical support services to women and children who are survivors of violence in Saint Lucia. The organisation seeks to strengthen internal systems, train staff and volunteers, and implement a robust advocacy and communications strategy. This grant will support the procurement of financial software, staff upskilling, and the development of strategic tools to enhance transparency, efficiency, and outreach.
The key actions for this project are:
- Financial management
- Procuring QuickBooks software and migrating financial data.
- Training for staff and volunteers on QuickBooks and financial data processing.
- Advocacy and communications
- Drafting terms of reference for a communications consultant.
- Engaging a consultant to develop an advocacy and communications strategy.
- Convening a two-day training workshop for staff, board, and volunteers on advocacy and communications techniques.
As a result of this project, it is hoped that Raise Your Voice will improve its financial management practices, leading to enhanced decision-making, budgeting and transparency. The development of a targeted communications strategy will boost visibility, credibility, and engagement with stakeholders. Staff and volunteers will be equipped with the skills and tools needed to advance the organisation’s mission more effectively and sustainably.
