How we are helping

We are supporting Fem Health to develop strategic and communications plans, strengthen internal policies, and build board and staff capacity in governance, finance, and outreach.

About the project

The Foundation’s capacity strengthening grants stream supports smaller Commonwealth civil society organisations in smaller Member States, building their expertise and enhancing their capacity to influence policy.

Fem Health is committed to improving health outcomes for women and girls in Maldives. To strengthen its organisational capacity and broaden its impact, Fem Health seeks to enhance internal efficiency, governance, and communications. With this grant, the organisation will train staff and board members, build internal systems, and develop a five-year strategic plan, in order to reach a wider audience, attract more support, and deliver its programmes more effectively.

The key actions for this project are:

  • Strategic and operational planning
    • Developing a five-year strategic plan and corresponding operational plan.
    • Updating and improving internal management and organisational policies.
  • Governance and financial management
    • Creating board management policies and guidelines.
    • Hosting development workshops and a financial management workshop for executive board members.
    • Developing financial management policies to improve accountability and sustainability.
  • Communications and outreach
    • Recruiting a social media and marketing manager.
    • Developing a communications plan to guide stakeholder engagement.
    • Creating and maintaining a website to increase visibility and transparency.

As a result of the project, it is hoped that Fem Health will be better positioned to carry out its mission with greater efficiency and impact. The organisation will benefit from stronger governance, improved financial practices, and a more strategic approach to communications and outreach. These changes will increase stakeholder confidence, strengthen programme delivery, and support long-term sustainability through enhanced visibility and engagement.
